From a place of connectedness
Where textile art and community meet.

Quilting Bees in the context of art.

From 03. 02. 2023
Every first and third Friday of the month from 11- 13.
Please register here.

In the QUILTING BEES we meet with like-minded people to work on our own textile projects. The focus is on handwork, that is, everything we can create with needle and thread and textile materials. A useful introduction is patchwork and quilting. Sashiko, appliqué and embroidery are just as much a part of it as using classic block patterns and improvisation.

The basic instructions on how to use needle and thread (thimble/feeder, sashiko needle/sashiko feeder), cutter and scissors are accompanied by the stories of quilts, their social and artistic roots, and contemporary examples.

To cover my expenses, I kindly ask for a fee of 10,- EUR,
discounted from 7,- Euro
per session.

The QUILTING BEEs - FREE WORK meetings are not workshops in the strict sense.

We meet to support and inspire each other. I make my studio available for this purpose and am happy to share my experience as a visual artist and men's tailor. Tools and my Pfaff Ambition if you need to speed things up, irons, my extensive Marti Michell patchwork stencil collection, cutting pads, gravure press, screen printing frames and my books on the subject can also be used.
