Quilting Bee im STUDIOSPACE
Lange Strasse 31 Frankfurt/M
Patchwork & Quilten & Sticken & Appliqué for texil enthusiasts - Open Workshop
Every first and third Friday of the month
from 11am – 1pm.
The next meeting: 16/06/2023.
*If there are only 1 registrations, the Bee will not take place.
The QUILTING BEE creates a place where we experiment and learn about textiles as creative and sustainable materials. Each participant is encouraged to develop her own creative projects, asking questions and looking for individual solutions. Sashiko, appliqué and embroidery are included as well as using classic block patterns and improvisation.
The Quilting Bee is accompanied with special workshops that dive deeper into the individual craft traditions or focus on ways of improvisation and unlearning.
The basic instructions on how to use needle and thread (thimble, sashiko needle/sashiko feeder), cutter and scissors are accompanied by the stories of quilts and textile crafts, their social and artistic roots, and contemporary examples.
We meet to support and inspire each other. I am happy to share my experience as a visual artist and men's tailor. Needles, scissors, cutter and my Pfaff Ambition, if it should go faster, iron, my extensive Marti Michell patchwork stencil collection, cutting materials and my books on the subject can be used on site as well, if needed.
o cover my costs, I would appreciate a financial contribution of your choice. Your contribution will help me to continue my work. Thanks in advance.
